The Royal Docks Team leads the long-term regeneration of the Royal Docks on behalf of the Mayor of London and the Mayor of Newham. 

Who We are

The Royal Docks Team is a joint initiative between the Mayor of London and the Mayor of Newham, established in 2017 to coordinate the long-term regeneration of the Royal Docks.

We work with developers, businesses, investors, cultural organisations, landowners, local communities and public sector partners to unlock the Royal Docks' full potential.

Our role is to bring people together, champion the Royal Docks and coordinate the partnerships needed to deliver lasting economic, social and environmental change.

Our Development team works with developers, landowners and partners to bring forward new homes, workplaces, infrastructure and public spaces, helping deliver one of the UK's largest regeneration programmes.

Our Culture team works with artists, cultural organisations and creative businesses to deliver festivals, public art, creative commissions and cultural programmes that strengthen the Royal Docks' identity and support its growing creative economy.

Our Community team works alongside residents, community organisations and local partners to ensure regeneration creates lasting benefits, strengthens neighbourhoods and gives communities a voice in shaping the future of the Royal Docks.

Promotion

Our Promotion team leads marketing, communications, destination campaigns and partnerships that raise the profile of the Royal Docks, celebrate its unique identity and attract visitors, businesses and investment.

Economy

Economy

Our Economy team works to attract investment, support businesses and grow priority sectors while helping local people benefit from new jobs, skills and enterprise opportunities created through regeneration.

Governance

The Royal Docks programme is overseen by the Royal Docks Enterprise Zone Programme Board, a partnership board between the Greater London Authority and the London Borough of Newham. The Board provides strategic leadership and oversight for the programme, monitors delivery of the Five-Year Delivery Plan and guides investment to ensure regeneration delivers long-term benefits for the Royal Docks. 

The Board also oversees funding generated through the Enterprise Zone business rates retention scheme, helping ensure investment supports sustainable economic growth and the long-term transformation of the Royal Docks

Community involvement

Key existing businesses and development partners have a seat on the Royal Docks Advisory Board. We’re also establishing a number of more specialised partnerships to enable collaboration in key areas, such as marketing and cultural programming.

Working in partnership

The scale and complexity of the Royal Docks means no single organisation can deliver its transformation alone. We work with developers, businesses, investors, cultural organisations, universities, local communities and public sector partners to coordinate activity and deliver a shared vision for the area.

Beyond delivering projects, we act as a convenor—bringing organisations together to share insight, align investment, develop partnerships and create opportunities that maximise the impact of regeneration across the Royal Docks.

We do this through a range of partnership forums and networks, including our Developers Forum, Community Partners Forum, Royal Docks Networking Forum and Placemaking & Promotion Partnership, helping align investment, strengthen relationships and deliver a shared vision for the Royal Docks.
